Maria A. and her cousin, Ariana M., were traveling in Uruguay and found themselves at a restaurant late one night. Though the other patrons had left, the two young women remained because they were listening to a group of Gideons who were meeting in an adjoining room. As they heard the Gideons give testimonies about taking God's Word to the world, they both started to cry.
You see, seven years earlier, they had been vacationing in Buenos Aires when they discovered a New Testament in their hotel room. Both of them wanted to read it so they began to take turns.
"It was like one of us would have the little book for breakfast, the other for lunch, and the other for dinner," said Ariana. "Each verse was written for me," Maria added. "It was the presence of God in my life coming as a little book . . . God put this treasure in my way, and He has changed my life in ways I could not begin to explain."
Maria and Ariana had received the Word of God together, they had received Christ together, and they attended an evangelical church together. That night in the restaurant they finally learned who had placed the Scripture that changed their lives.
When the meeting ended, they told the Gideons, "As we listened to your meeting, we realized it was you who brought us the Word of God!"
